Lindisfarne almost demands that you don't rush but this is an island where time spent on the island is dictated by tide times. Our virtual tour gives you as long as you need to explore the history of Lindisfarne. Sit back and relax on Holy Island's beaches or learn about Lindisfarne Castle and Lindisfarne Priory.

This virtual tour has been produced with the support of the Holy Island Village Hall Renovation Fund. Three pounds from each CD-ROM sale will be passed on to their organisation and will go towards building a new village hall for the island community.

Your Holy Island of Lindisfarne - Interactive Guided Tour is split into three individual virtual tours. One takes you around the village, the second guided tour around Lindisfarne takes you out to St Cuthbert's Isle and up to the Heugh and the final tour takes you on a journey around a large part of the coastline of Holy Island.

Holy Island is often cut off from the mainland and this means that most of its visitors spend only a short time on the island. This guided tour of Lindisfarne takes you 'by the hand' (virtually anyway!) and leads you around most of the island, pointing out places often missed by the day-trippers.
Although we don't visit Lindisfarne Castle or the famous Priory, we do look at the histories of both of these buildings and discover why one was far more important to the story of Holy Island.
As regular visitors to Lindisfarne, we know that one thing most visitors enjoy is the feeling of tranquility which Holy Island gives you. The flip side to this is that some lovely locations around the island are missed out, this virtual tour of Lindisfarne seeks to redress that a little by allowing you to explore much of the island from the comfort of your own PC. If you visit Holy Island, or are planning to, this virtual tour might just encourage you to explore some of the less visited parts of the island.
