Mary, Queen of Scots is one of the most tragic characters in Scotland's history. Her life story has all the hallmarks of a Hollywood blockbuster, courage, religious strife, cowardice, desire, passion as well as murder and intrugue surrounded Marie Stuart and her husbands. This unique guided tour puts you at the very heart of Mary's Edinburgh during these tumultuous times.

This unique historic
guided tour takes you on four seperate virtual tours around the streets of Edinburgh's fabulous Old Town. Together these four fascinating Edinburgh tours give you one of the most comprehensive explorations of Mary, Queen of Scots' time in the capital.

Your first tour tells the story of the early years of Mary's life - from the '
Rough Wooings' to the often violent time of the Scottish Reformation, Edinburgh was at the heart of most of it. You then learn about Mary's return to her nation's capital following the death of her first husband, the young Dauphin Francis II.

Things weren't easy for Mary when she returned to Scotland. The Reformation had well and truly changed Scotland's religious outlook and, as a Catholic Queen, she faced numerous obstcles. John Knox was a particulary significant character and you learn some of his story as you discover the various pitfalls Mary had to dodge over the next few years.

Mary's choice in men has often been said to have been one of her main weaknesses. Her second husband was
Henry, Lord Darnley. Darnley was vain and arrogant and his relationship with Mary was turbulent. His involvement in the murder of Mary's Italian secretary, David Rizzio, who was killed in front of her very eyes may well have sealed his fate.

On the morning of February 10 1567
Henry Darnley, consort King of Scotland, was murdered. His temporary residence in one of the Kirk o'Fields outhouses was destroyed in an explosion. The bodies of Darnley and a manservant were found nearby...and they showed evidence of having survived the explosion only to be strangled after... This tour will take you around the supposed site of this crime and explain some of the strange goings on which led up to the Kirk o'Fields murders.

This Interactive Guided Tour takes you to places linked to Mary's life in Scotland. You shall visit the graves of the
Regent Morton, David Rizzio (supposedly) and George Buchanan. The virtual tours also take in places linked to John Knox, Sir William Kirkcaldy of Grange and the 'Lang Siege' of Edinburgh Castle. You explore Blackfriars Wynd, now Blackfriars Street, and it's 'Palace' belonging to Cardinal Beaton. Beaton played a significant role in the 'Rough Wooings' and learn why he was strongly disliked by the citizens of the Old Town.

Why not follow in the virtual footsteps of Mary Queen of Scots today! This innovative virtual 'walking tour of Edinburgh' is a must see for anyone with an interest in the life and reign of one of Scotland's most tragic monarchs.
