There are many excellent tours of Edinburgh out there but none take you around most of the Old Town's historic Kirkyards. Greyfriars Kirkyard ghost tours are some of the most popular in the capital but a historic tour, focusing on the many true stories of those buried inside the kirkyard are rare.

Many important, renowned, scary, bloodthirsty, cruel, inventive and downright bizarre people have played their parts in the history of Edinburgh, and this unique Interactive Guided Tour seeks to tell you some of their most interesting stories as you tour Edinburgh's historic burial grounds. This isn't a tour which relies upon men jumping out from behind gravestones to be memorable, in many cases the accepted history is even more fascinating!

Although these famous Old Edinburgh characters are no longer with us, you can still visit their graves and learn a little about their life and times. This huge tour of Edinburgh takes you on a journey around some of the capital's most historic 'Kirkyards'.

There are a few really good guidebooks to Edinburgh's graveyards but, in our experience, one of the biggest problems with these books is actually finding many of the graves mentioned! Greyfriars Kirkyard, Canongate Kirkyard, St Cuthbert's Kirkyard and the burial grounds of Old and New Calton are open to the public. This tour takes you around some of the 'must-see' graves in these historic places.

Although a 'virtual wander' around burial grounds might not seem like a really great way to spend your day, we're sure that the stories we have included will entertain you! We'll let you into a secret, before we 'saw the light' we thought that Greyfriars Kirkyard was a nice enough place but nothing too special...how wrong we were! Our 'Graveyards' tour isn't just about stone slabs in the ground, almost all of our stories are about the people who are buried there. Put it this way, Greyfriars Kirkyard alone as at least 150,000 bodies buried there! This gives us plenty of material to deal with.

PS - yes, we do still look at the story of 'Bluidy' Mackenzie and the unfortunates held in the Covenanters' Prison!
