York is one of the most popular tourist destinations in England and this unique piece of software takes you around one of its most famous landmarks on a fascinating York City Walls tour. This comprehensive and unique virtual tour features four seperate York tours which take you right around the Walls and also around the walls of St Mary's Abbey.

York's City Walls are some of the best preserved town defences in Europe. A walk around the walls of York can take a good hour or so and this virtual tour picks out the best places to see - and there are many!

All the famous York Bars are included (these being the name for gateways - not public houses!), Micklegate Bar, Bootham Bar and Monk Bar.

An archive map, video clips and many rotatable 'model' shots of places on the walls have been included. Each panoramic scene can be seen in full screen mode, giving a really immersive feel to your York Walls guided tour. We believe that this innovative software will give you an experience which no York's history DVD or York City Walls guidebook can give. Look up, down, left and right, just as if you were actually there. The model shots let you rotate some of the towers so you get a real understanding of just how impressive this medieval defensive work actually was. Archive images let you see how the walls, and the land around them, have changed over the years. 360 degree, full screen images have been taken inside, outside and on the walls themselves, giving you a good understanding of what attackers and defenders would have seen.

York is one of our favourite holiday destinations in England and the history of this powerful northern city covers some of England's most important periods. The York's History - The City Walls Interactive Guided Tour uses panoramic photographs (with the option to double click to view in full screen mode) video clips, an archive map, archive images, modern still images and rotatable 'models' to let you explore the walls in incredible detail.
